Hello this is Choco.
Since today is a very special day I have included 2 videos.
Has everyone seen this video?
From America to Japan
"Rise Again, Japan"
The video was produced in New York.
It asks for donations for the Great East Japan Earthquake.
It is an independent work made by a Japanese man.
His name is Kenji and he lives in New York.
(I will introduce him to you in my next blog)
In April following the Great East Japan Earthquake,
New York citizens made video messages asking the world to send donations to Japan.
Under the Title "Rise Again Japan!" the video was uploaded to YouTube.
The video shows average citizens, movie stars, and rappers.
Can everyone find it? (I will answer in the next blog)
The video became a sensation as something created by a "mysterious group in New York"
It has over 500,000 hits on YouTube.
It was the world's 4th largest non-profit group.
For 4 days on twitter in Japan it was the most retweeted topic
which vastly increased its value.
The following is Japan's reply to the original video.
From the Disaster Area in Japan to the US and World
"We will always remember you"
This was filmed in and around Ishinomaki
To say thank you to people around the world for their support.
Local people working alongside foreign volunteers,
They tell me "we want to say thank you"
"Those who came from far away, thank you so much!!"
I often hear those words.
The film is meant to convey the feelings of individuals
Why did I pick this video?!
Because today is a very important day(August 15th).
67 Years ago, Japan surrendered to Allied powers
67 Years ago, Japan and America were enemies
Now we are friends.
There is a song called "Children Who Do Not Know War"
It is one of my favorite songs,
one of the lyrics say:
"I do not know the war"
After March 11th of last year, I learned what true friendship is.
There were many victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
People around the world have seen the video,
and sent messages to Japan.
Lots of goods and money were received.
All over the world people sent love to Japan.
Through this video,
We can deliver to the would our thanks.
It is easy for people to forget,
However, everyone, do not forget these things.
In the Great East Japan Earthquake 15,867 people died, with 2906 still missing.
Around the world,
Scars from wars and conflict are still scattered about.
There are still places struggling with war and civil war.
There are still places that wage war.
Humans should not use their power to kill.
I can hope to make peace around the world...
by including our thoughts and experiences in this blog.
Thank you.... 2012.8.16
Special Thanks, Dominic Amato from America
