Hi, I'm Choco from Ishinomaki.

"One more year"
A person who always helps us, Mr. Takuya Hatakeyama, Principal of Ishinomaki City’s Kitakami Junior High School, said that.

When I was talking with Mr. Hatakeyama,
a local mother who lives in temporary housing asked him:
The mother: "Mr. Hatakeyama, can we still use the gymnastic hall?"
Mr. Hatakeyama: "Yes, yes. I'll be here till 2:30."
There was no place to play because of the rain.

Nikkori Sun Park Temporary Housing, where the mother lives,
is located next to Kitakami Junior High School.
The school is in Kitakami-machi, and is about a 50-minute drive from Ishinomaki station.
There are around 180 temporary houses next to the school.
The place where children can play is an assembly room.
It is too small for them to run around.

Mr. Hatakeyama knows the situation and opens the gymnastic hall every weekend,
with the exception of when student club activities are being held in the hall.
He plans tea parties and crafts for adults.

On the day we attended as a tea party organizer,
the principal had scheduled an afternoon program.
Even so, he opened the school until the very last minute for children.

Mr. Hatakeyama and our volunteers
The picture was taken when Mr. Hatakeyama sampled the English sweets called "Trifle" we made.

"One more year that I can stay in this school."

The school is open almost every weekend.
On weekdays he is the principal of the junior high school.
On weekends and holidays he is a volunteer.
He works tirelessly, never resting, for the local people.

He took time from his busy schedule to show us Yoshihama elementary school
near by Kitakami Junior High School.

* Information of Yoshihama elementary school area will be posted to a blog later.

"One more year that I can stay in this school."

Mr. Hatakeyama is also a local and he lives in a temporary house.

He has various anxieties; similar to the other local people I have met.
However, even on his days off and during his free time, he continues to work for the local people and place that he loves.
"One more year"
"Until a retirement"
He works for the people and the area he loves rather than himself.

He is a person who I most respect.
Mr. Takuya Hatakeyama
He is an admirable character.
I will do my best by following his effort.
He is an admirable character.

Thank you...
